Wherstead Park has received its wedding licence and can now hold civil ceremonies and partnerships. Offering a choice of three rooms in the Mansion, the hall and galleried landing or the Atrium so when you make that promise to love each other eternally you can share the moment with your closest friends and family.

The Vernon room is an elegant dining room with folding doors leading from the main hall. Together with its dual aspect windows it provides an amazing panoramic view across the grounds and can accommodate up to 65.

The adjoining Harland is the largest room and with its quirky Georgian colour scheme, grand chandelier and views over the garden, it can accommodate up to 75.

The Orwell room is perfect for the more intimate affair and has lots of natural light with dual aspect and views down towards the Orwell river, it can accommodate up to 30.

For the quirky and unusual alternative we can offer the galleried landing and magnificent reception hall for 90 guests.

Finally for those with an ever increasing guest list we are also licensed to hold ceremonies in the contemporary Atrium for up to 300 guests.

As part of our wedding service we can coordinate your personal choice of music from the time your guests arrive, to the entrance of the bride, the signing of the register and the departure of the bride and groom. Alternatively we can arrange live musicians from opera to jazz, rock to classical.

The timing of your ceremony is critical in planning the rest of your day, from the formal wedding breakfast to the timing of your evening reception.

Once you have decided on the date you must call the registrar on 01473 583051 to check their availability and to ensure that they can attend at your preferred time and location. You will also need to budget around £500 for the services of the registrar, dependant upon which day of the week you choose to get married. You will both need to go to your local registrar's office to give notice of your intention to marry.

It is a legal requirement to give notice of marriage and, once given, your notice of marriage is displayed on the notice board at the registrar's office for a period of 15 clear days. Your notice of marriage is valid for 12 months.
